Rajaram graduated with LLB (Hons) from the University of London in 1982 and, after his admission to Middle Temple as a Barrister-at-Law in 1983, read his Master-at-Law (LLM) at the University of Cambridge in 1984 before joining the Singapore Legal Service.
In the Singapore Legal Service, he served in various judicial appointments including as District Judge. Rajaram left the Legal Service in 1994 to enter private practice. He was a partner of Wee, Ramayah & Partners from 1994 and later joined Quahe Woo & Palmer LLC as a consultant.
His areas of practise include commercial, corporate, civil & criminal litigation and aviation law.
He has represented airlines and aircraft operators in the Asia Pacific Region in numerous aircraft transactions including the leasing, purchase/sale and financing of commercial aircraft, business jets and in the acquisition of new generation aircraft. He also advises on aviation regulatory matters, structuring of transactions and in the repossession of aircraft. He represented passengers and crew in both air crashes involving Singapore carriers in the High Court.
Since 1998 he has been recognised as a leading aviation lawyer in various publications including Euromoney Legal Group Guide. In 2005, he was also recognized by the publication Asia Law & Practice as a leading Aviation Lawyer in the Asia/Pacific Region and has also been listed for many years in the Who’s Who Legal (Business Lawyers) for his aviation expertise.
In 2004, he served as Vice Chairman (Aviation Committee) of the Inter Pacific Bar Association. In May 2004, he was appointed a Reserve Panel Member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and has also presided as an arbitrator. Rajaram has also served as a committee member of the Royal Aeronautical Society (Singapore Branch).
For his social work, he received the “Friends of Ministry of Community Youth Sports (MCYS)” award in 2012 and the 15 years long service award for serving the Ministry in various capacities including two terms as a Council Member of the Charity Council since its formation in 2007. In 2013, he was conferred the National Day award of the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (Public Service Medal) for his services as the Chairman of the Review Board (Children and Young Persons Act), a position he has held since 2011.
